Songs of the Sawdust Trail is a classic early-1960s album from gospel baritone Alan McGill, released on Sacred Records (with arrangements and accompaniment by Ralph Carmichael). Known for his warm, traditional gospel style, McGill delivers old-fashioned revival hymns that evoke the tent-meeting “sawdust trail” era. Highlights include “Old Fashioned Meeting,” “Brighten the Corner,” “I’m Going Higher,” “Mansion Over the Hilltop,” “Have You Counted the Cost?,” and “I Won’t Have to Cross Jordan Alone.” One of McGill’s most popular recordings — perfect for fans of vintage sacred music and classic Sacred Records titles.
