Spirituals is a 1963 album from gospel singer Frank Boggs, released on Word Records. One of Word’s earliest recording artists, Boggs (known for his rich baritone, BBC work, and lifelong dedication to sacred music) presents a collection of traditional African-American spirituals with warmth and conviction. Highlights include “Every Time I Feel the Spirit,” “The Lily of the Valley,” “Go Down, Moses,” “Joshua Fit the Battle of Jericho,” “Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child,” and “I Have Decided to Follow Jesus.” A classic early Word Records title celebrating the enduring power of spirituals.
