Dave Boyer (1973) is a self-titled album by the former nightclub singer and jazz crooner who became a gospel artist after a dramatic conversion in 1965. Released on Word Records (and earlier associated with Reverence), it features Boyer’s smooth, emotional vocal style on traditional and contemporary gospel favorites including a happiness medley (“Happiness Is the Lord,” “His Name Is Wonderful”), “I Believe in a Hill Called Mt. Calvary,” “This Little Light of Mine,” “Do You Know My Jesus,” “Pass Me Not,” and “My Jesus, I Love Thee.”
Known for his big-band-influenced delivery and personal testimony (including the story behind the film So Long, Joey), Boyer brings warmth and conviction to these inspirational tracks. A classic example of his early Word-era recordings for fans of easy-listening and traditional gospel.
